FAQ

Is it essential to book before the birth?

No it is not essential, although it is recommended that you book antenatally in order to guarantee a space on my caseload as there is limited availability.

Will it always be the same midwife visiting me.?

Whenever possible it will be me that visits. However, if I am unwell or unable to visit for any other reason then I will arrange for another experienced midwife to visit instead. This will be discussed with you in advance.

Will the N.H.S. midwife still visit?

There is no need for the N.H.S. midwife to visit as I will carry out all the necessary checks and tests that are usually performed. If you would like to receive N.H.S care as well then that is fine.

What happens at the antenatal visit?

This visit usually lasts about one hour. I will give instructions on how to contact me when you have had the baby. We will discuss your expectations, and ways in which you can prepare for the new baby, and how you plan to feed your baby.

I will run through all the necessary paper work with you in order to save time on my first visit.

Can I hire you as a gift for my friend who is having a baby?

Yes, this is fine,  however, the contract must be signed by the mother who is receiving the care.
